TERROR FORMING

PLOT / STORY

A Spaceship is travelling through space, conducting research through exploration. It has been damaged by a meteor shower and is running low on resources. It must crash land on a habitable planet in order to replenish supplies and repair the ship. You must choose what planet you would like to crash land your vessel on, in order to survive.

Terror Forming is a survival game, where you play as a military trained astronaut, responsible for protecting themselves and their spaceship, against competing biological life. As an invader to the planet, you must acheive "Terror Forming" the planet in order to continue conducting research, and eventually escape the planet alive.  

GAMEPLAY / GAME MECHANICS

CORE GAME MECHANICS

>
Survival game based off enemy waves. Each wave contains more difficult enemies to face, and contains more enemies to defeat. When a wave of enemies is defeated, time is given to complete objectives and prepare for the next wave.
> Must complete certain missions/objectives in order to stay alive. (e.gs, de-root plants and collect seeds to start a farm) (Kill opposing life in order to collect meat for eating) (Connect hose from ship up to water supply in order to have clean water and stay hydrated) (Collect resources from enemies and the environment for upgrading equipment)


HOW TO SURVIVE

Hunger bar

> Must be maintained in order to survive
> This bar slowly depreciates at a constant rate throughout the game and is replenished through eating; (Fruit/Vegetables: collected from the environment); (Meat: collected from killing enemies)
> Movements and high energy demanding actions will also cost / take from your hunger bar
> Your character consumes food by feeding the food into their suit, and then their suit provides them the calories through IV. 

Hydration bar
> Must be maintained in order to survive
> This bar slowly depreciates at a constant rate throughout the game and is replenished by returning to your ship to fill your suit up on clean water. 
> Your character refills their suit with water, and then their suit keeps them hydrated through IV. 

Oxygen Bar
>
 Must be maintained in order to survive.
> This bar starts to rapidly depreciates once your suit has received heavy damage. (When your space suit is damaged due to combat, your suit loses the ability to convert the atmospheres air into clean oxygen to supply, so you must return to the ship to change suits) 

Space Suits (Extra Lives)
> Your characters lives are the amount of backup space suits you have stored in your spaceship.
> You can build new space suits by collecting the correct resources during gameplay, and then craft them at the spaceship.
> In order to successfully use one of your lives, you must return to the spaceship before you run out of oxygen due to the damage done to the suit.
> You can also successfully use one of your lives by switching out your space suit early, if it is close to being overly damaged.


ITEMS AND ITEM CRAFTING

> You can collect resources from the environment or from enemies, and then craft items when returning to the ship. The following shown below is a list of what you can craft.

Weapons 
Melee weapons (Swords, Staff, Spears, etc)
Ranged weapons, (Guns, Shurikens, explosives, traps, etc)

Automated Equipment
>
Drones to help with repairing/completing objectives
> Machine gun Drones to follow you and help fight enemies
Automatic machine gun turrets

ROAD MAP 

Due to the complexity of this game, and the large scale of assets and mechanics required to develop in order to bring this game to life, this game will be in development for a while. An estimate for when tasks will be completed on this road map may be innaccurate due to the complex nature of the project, as unexpected issues can't be predicted and included in the estimate, and due to other influences aiding the speed of the project, (e.g Funding, Time able to be spent on project, etc) 

The road map is only an estimate, and so tasks may be completed either earlier or later than expected.
